I'm so excited! Dr Lewin made top news on USA Today for her involvement in Operation Santa through the US Postal Service:
How lucky we are to have her as our surgeon! She really is the best, just ask her son - he just had to write a paper on someone who is a hero - and picked his mom. She is all of our heroes. Her son called us, using his best manners and asked me if he could use Manny's article in InSpire as part of his report to help teach children about the Pillars of Character. It's so neat to see how the journey has affected children and continues to teach them such wonderful life lessons.
Last week we were invited to Wal-Mart Transportation. They wanted MannyMan to autograph some of their die-cast replica trucks with his mug on it. Little did they know his autograph is about 6 inches wide by about 3 inches tall. He did a great job though and naturally walked out of there with WMT goodies.
Channel 15 wanted to do a follow-up story on Manny so we invited them to Dr Danny Yaish's doctor appt this past Monday. I think a small story may air Friday or Monday morning around 6:50am. Children seem to know when they shouldn't embarrass you....Manny was on fire that morning. If you listen closely you may here a "I farted, Mommy"...."do you know what you get with a lot of geese at the pond? lots of geese poop...." long inside story which of course he saved for when the cameras were rolling and in the middle of when I was speaking - so if I look distracted, embarrassed, sound dumb - you'll know why. Oh, to be the mom of 3 boys.
Well, we hope to be off to Cali back in January for inner ear revision surgery #1 in Palo Alto. He still has a perforated ear drum in one ear and not hearing well in the other ear. But, we are very confident in his other awesome surgeon (Dr Roberson) and are hopeful that hearing can be again restored. We plan to do 3 revision surgeries in California in 2012. I'm gearing up for January already, hoping to finalize the dates so I can prepare the extensive coordination: the travel plans, my other children's schedules, work, etc. As they say "Overprepare, then go with the flow..." Well, type A can only go with the flow so much, but I try my hardest.
Sorry for the bold. Computer being funny tonight!
