The end??

6 airports, 3 planes, 4 trains (btw - NEVER, ever again), and several taxi rides within 3 days. WHAT WAS I THINKING? It was a crazy schedule and we are both exhausted but we are HOME. Both appointments went well and I really feel, for the first time in 18 months, that we are in a good place. By closing his canal we will not worry about reoccurring ear infections. By surgically placing new metal snaps into his skull, he will hear the best he has heard in a long, long time. And, his big boy ears look pretty darn great. It's all such a sigh of relief.
We had basically no free time in our 3 day adventure. But, I managed to squeeze in an early morning run on the beach yesterday thanks to my babysitters (Uncle D & Aunt Ashley). When I got to the beach, it's like I received the biggest gift from God. The sun was rising. The ocean was calm. The weather was crispy yet warm. California was quiet. I was alone. The sky was the most florescent shade of lavender (my favorite color) that I have ever seen. I saw 6 dolphins and 2 sea lions. It was like he was giving me a congratulations, you survived the 86 day California journey, and now it's time to go home. I will never forget it and I always remind my kids that the best treasures in life are those things that are free...nature, friendship, and love.
With that all being said, the best treasure in life is also getting your grey hairs covered up after you've been through the wringer. So, I did email my new friend, Darcy, with the Cristophe Salon Las Vegas, and I have a spa appointment booked next week - WOO HOO!!!!! Little did I know she had already posted a cute story and picture of Manny on their facebook site. If you find the salon on facebook and click "like" under Manny's story, you will be entered in a drawing for 2 gift baskets!! Do it! Do it!! Reward yourself for having to read this blog and deal with me :)
Special thanks to my friends and family for the caffeine and comfort food (Natalie, Staci, Tracy, Heather, Grammy J). I would like to thank and re-thank everyone who has helped us make this process as smooth as it could be....Grammy J/Aunt Val/Grandma Sue helping us with our kiddos at home, Uncle D/Aunt Ashley for helping us in California. I would like to thank special friends, the Espinosas, our Godfamily, for sharing holidays with us and giving us normalcy in northern CA. I would like to thank old friends we have reconnected with and new friends we have made - in both California and at home. I would like to thank everyone who reads this, who has supported us, and who continues to pray for the Man and our family. And finally, I would like to thank our very special doctors, Dr. Lewin and Dr. Roberson, who have performed miracles and taken care of my baby boy, along with all of our local doctors, therapists, and teachers.
I'd like to think it's "the end" but we all know it's really not. There will be plenty of new adventures knowing Manny. Maybe it's just the end of Phase 1, but the beginning of Phase 2...and I'm looking forward to it. Cheers!
