Happy New Year to everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and New Year! We are looking forward to tackling 2012 with Manny's most likely 3 surgeries, and then possibly putting it all behind us - woo, hoo! We leave in almost a week so I've been busy coordinating plans and starting to watch "germs". Manny got the flu before Christmas and we had to miss Wilke Christmas, which was a bummer (actually, he was done yacking so we drove to Christmas and he opened up one present in the "garage" so as not to infect anyone!). Whatever works, right?! But, we have so much riding on each trip out to California so it would be very frustrating to miss a surgery date due to illness. Plus, Dr Roberson leaves for Mexico a few days after surgery so we really need to hit the date unless we want to have surgery there instead. No thanks.

For Christmas, my mom had put all of these Manny Updates in a bound booklet, starting with the very first entry. It was difficult to read through some of it as it brings back a lot of good and challenging memories, and we are about to embark on yet another journey next week with more good and challenging memories! Plus, I write things so fast and don't really think through it - so they are not written very well. Hence, a blog, so don't be too critical on my thought process or lack-there-of :)

We got to chit-chat back and forth with Dr Lewin during the Rose Bowl (darn Badgers) and her daughter, Kaci, is writing a book called "A book of miracles and love" ...about her mom and Manny. I saw the cover of the book she illustrated and I cannot wait to read it!! I sure hope Manny recovers well and we can make the drive to Los Angeles to see them. Dr Lewin was very excited about her die-cast, Manny-autographed Walmart truck - thanks again to Kari and Jim for getting me an extra truck.

Wishing everyone health and happiness in 2012! Please keep Manny in your prayers on January 17th for his next surgery. The OR is "only" scheduled this time for 1.5 hours - piece of cake, right?!
