Tuesday we just chilled at the hotel, ate random food we had been stashing like squirrels. Nate had Pringles and Pepsi for breakfast. Dont feel sorry for him, the hotel does offer a free breakfast. In the afternoon, the sun was shining and it appeared like a nice day from the window so we ventured out to The Dish. This is a LARGE hill/mountain with a 4 mile walking path. Imagine 15% incline on a treadmill - this was more like 30% plus pushing Manny in a stroller or carrying him. It overlooked Stanford and all of Palo Alto - it was awesome. No wonder people out here are skinny - everyone walks because of the nice weather and there is no fast food - but naturally we did hunt down a McDonalds. We could have done without the warnings of Coyotes/Mountain Lions and that we should pick up small children and attack the mountain lions if confronted. Seriously?
Manny had an "ok" day. He is frusturated with all of the headgear and drain tube and doesnt feel good about every 2.5/3 hours. He was really great at moments, not so great in others. I held off on the codeine but should have given it to him last night. It wasnt as great as the first night, actually, but still overall - much better than I had anticipated his recovery to be. The best part of yesterday was when he held the cell phone up to his Right Ear without his hearing aid and talked to Abers and Eli normally. Granted, the cell phone was on speakerphone loud, but that was awesome since his ear is packed with stuff and a protective cup sewed to his face over the top. Still not sure about the hearing - but this was encouraging. See Manny Photos - Surgery
Today we have a 9:30am appt to remove the drain tube, then this afternoon Manny and Mom fly down to LA and Daddy Nate flies home. Nate is thanking the WI weather for all the rain - now he will not miss baseball games :)
Thanks to Coach Joe/Coach Jane for stopping over to our house yesterday to say hi to the boys. Timing was perfect as we were about to Skype the boys - so Manny was able to chat and make faces with them. Thanks to Aunt Val for helping the grandmas with bedtime. Also, thank you to cousin Sabrina's friend, Sydney and her bro for going on a "Manny Mission" this weekend in their Waunakee neighborhood!
