Tonight at teacher conferences we received an outline that big brother Eli prepared for a Biography about Manny. He did this on his own for extra credit:
1) What makes this person special or interesting? "He was born without ears and closed ear canals."
2) What are the adjectives you would most use to describe the person? "Funny, Kind, Curious (without his hearing aid)"
3) What examples from their life illustrate those qualities? "Manny was funny when he was dancing Like a G6."
4) What events shaped or changed this person's life? "Manny will have surgeries to get him ears."
5) Did he overcome obstacles? Take risks? Get lucky? "Manny got lucky by not dieing."
6) Would the world be better or worse if this person hadn't lived? How and why? "It would be worse if Manny hadn't lived because he was the one who helped G. Doyle sign the bill."
7) What are the three most important lessons you or any other young person might learn from the way this person lived? "1) Never distrup Manny when he's dancing 2) Always try your best on being nice to people 3) Always treat your brothers nicely
8) What do you think it means to be a hero? Was your person a "hero"? "Manny's a hero to some people because he made Governor Doyle sign the bill for hearing aids."
